This large pigeon trap features 8 doors - four at each end. It is a heavy-duty, assemble-on-the-spot trap that does not need a floor panel. The four sides and two top panels easily assemble. More than 20 pigeons can fit at a time.

The wooden sparrow trap was designed to be a typical "birdhouse" but there's a twist! The front panel drops down and inside the house is a spring-loaded trap door & perch, which is positioned below the opening so when the bird enters the house and lands to perch, the trap door snaps shut. The trap has a fluorescent orange sticker affixed to it allowing you to check the status of the trap from a distance.

• Begin any project by READING THE LABEL. OvoControl is an EPA registered pesticide and the label includes all directions and use restrictions. Make sure that you are familiar with label directions to ensure that you are in compliance with the law.
• OvoControl G for resident Canada geese requires a federal and, depending on your location, a state permit.  See the 3-200-13 USF&WS Depredation Permit Form - for more information.  Contact your local Fish & Wildlife office to confirm permitting requirements.
• OvoControl G for ducks does NOT require a federal or state permit.
• OvoControl consists of a daily baiting program.  The geese or ducks must be conditioned to arrive at the selected baiting site each morning for a dose of OvoControl.
• Pick an area close to where the birds are nesting and convenient for administering bait each morning.  Use an automatic feeder if appropriate for the site.
• Begin the process by pre-baiting with cracked or whole corn, semi-soft dog food kibbles or other bait suitable for the birds.  Use approximately 1 pound of pre-bait for 20 birds.  Administer bait shortly after sunrise.   
• If using an automatic feeder, set it to trigger shortly after sunrise.  See Calibrating an Automatic Feeder to ensure your feeder is delivering the appropriate quantity of pre-bait or OvoControl.
• Once the birds are feeding regularly, count the number of birds and ensure that no non-target birds are present.
• Begin the transition from pre-bait to OvoControl by mixing them together.  The transition process can take a few days to a few weeks depending on bird behavior.
• OvoControl G is applied at a rate of 1 ounce/bird/day.  Gradually increase the portion of OvoControl until completely converted from pre-bait.
• Periodically monitor the baiting site to ensure geese or ducks are present and non-target birds are not consuming the bait.
• Periodically adjust bait quantity and feeder consistent with bird numbers.

OvoControl is a ready-to-use bait that interferes with the reproduction of treated birds, causing the population to decline.  This effective and humane technology is especially useful for managing pigeon flocks in larger areas without having to resort to poisons and their associated risks.

Registered by EPA (Reg. No. 80224-1) and approved in all 50 states, OvoControl is ideal for large areas where some pigeons can be tolerated but where a substantially reduced population is desired. OvoControl is non-hazardous and is advocated by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Audubon and Peregrine Fund.

Baiting can begin at any time and OvoControl has been shown to have a wide margin of safety and efficacy.  Flat rooftops are the ideal area to bait pigeons.  No special license is required to purchase or apply the product (except New York).

Pigeons breed rapidly – just five mating pairs can produce up to 400 pigeons in only two years.  Fortunately, the life-span of urban pigeons is short, limited to just 2-3 years.  When applied according to label directions, OvoControl interferes with egg hatchability.  Since no new birds are hatching, the population of birds declines naturally and continuously.  Field studies show a reduction of approximately 50%, annually.  Recently collected data at a monitored site in San Diego reflected an 88% decline over 28 months.
